Consultancy – Geotechnical Support

We assist you with our decades of experience and the expertise of our colleagues from the BAUER Group to find the most efficient solution for your project. On the basis of your geotechnical site information and loads we provide input for pile wall thickness and embedment depth to make the installation as cost-efficient as possible. Choosing the most efficient solution can reduce the number of piles needed as well as their embedment depths and hence reduces time and costs for installation.

How much load a pile can hold depends on several factors:

  • Pile diameter
  • Pile wall thickness
  • Dimension of the Annulus
  • Soil conditions – the harder the soil the more load capacity for the grouted pile
  • Embedment depth
  • Direction of load

Mooring Pile Load Capabilities

Mooring Pile Load Capabilities

The maximum vertical load capacity of a pile is always higher than the horizontal and any angle in between. Hence, for pre-tensioned Tendons, the embedment depth can be shorter than for Catenary Chains in the same soil conditions.

Max. Vertical Design Load (kN)Max. Horizontal Design Load [kN]Max. Design Load at 45° [kN]Pile Length [m]

Examples of pile load capacities at a vertical (pre-tension), horizontal (Catenary) and 45° (semi-taut) angle and 3 m outer pile diameter. These values vary with the soil strata present at each pile location.

Feasibility Studies

We can assist you in your early project assessment via a bespoke Feasibility Study or Early Work Study. Catered to your specific needs and covering individually designed work packs titles such as:

  • Project Specific Feasibility Assessment
  • Project Specific Concepts Development
  • Drilling Campaign Commercial Proposal
  • Vessel Requirements
  • Preliminary Pin Pile Design including Pile Top Architecture
  • Preliminary Grout Design
  • Geotechnical Campaing Considerations
  • Site Trials & Pile Pull Out Testing

Sufficient soil data

Sufficient soil data

The more information about the conditions below the seabed available the more precise we can determine necessary parameters and hence considerably reduce project risks like delays and downtime.
